Painting of Wellington by Graham Turner from Osprey book The Ruhr 1943 Lethal flak over Duisburg Ref: GT-24A

A Vickers Wellington X of 428 'Ghost' Squadron RCAF is hit by flak over Duisburg on the night of 8/9th April 1943. Despite the loss of the rear gunner and the damage sustained, the Wellington managed to return home.

Painting of Lancaster by Graham Turner from Osprey book The Ruhr 1943 Dortmund 23/24th May 1943 Ref: GT-24B

A Lancaster III of 103 Squadron, piloted by F/O Florent van Rollegham, releases its bomb load over Dortmund. The operation on the 23/24th May 1943 was the largest of the Battle of the Ruhr, involving 826 aircraft.

Painting of Stirling by Graham Turner from Osprey book The Ruhr 1943 Destruction over Dusseldorf Ref: GT24-C

A Messerschmitt Bf 110 night-fighter destroys three RAF bombers over Dusseldorf on 25/26th May 1943. As the 77 Squadron Halifax he was attacking explodes, the huge blast severs the tail of a nearby 15 Squadron Stirling and sends another from 7 Squadron down in flames.
