Pathfinder over Trappes Ref: GT54A

De Havilland Mosquito B. XVI, serial ML957, of 109 Squadron, 8 (Pathfinder) Group, flown by Flying Officer A.A. Dray and Flight Lieutenant W.G. Finlay, flies over the railway centre at Trappes, south-west of Paris, on the night of 6-7 March 1944, having dropped target indicators to guide the second wave of Halifax bombers from Nos. 4 and 6 Groups onto the target.

The 105 Squadron record book stated, 'all the marking aircraft were successful, and the heavies… reported the TIs (Target Indicators) as being well concentrated and very accurate. The yards were clearly seen in the bright moonlight and the absence of cloud made the TIs plainly visible. The bombing, especially in the second phase, was extremely accurate and most of the bombs were seen to fall right across the markers.'
