While rallying his flagging troopers during the battle of Ramillies on the 23rd May 1706, the Duke of Marlborough was knocked from his horse and was in grave danger of being killed or captured. A quick-thinking Dutch officer ordered a regiment of infantry to advance to protect the Allied commander, while Captain Molesworth of Marlborough's staff helped his shaken commander to his feet.
