These are original paintings by Graham Turner, painted in gouache on watercolour board for the Osprey book 'Legion Condor 1936-39 - The Luftwaffe develops Blitzkrieg in the Spanish Civil War'. They are unique pieces of hand-painted artwork by this well known historical artist.

Relatively early in Legion Condor's involvement in the Spanish Civil War, two Junkers Ju52 transport aircraft were hastily converted to carry bombs and on 13th August 1936 they attacked the Republican battleship 'Jaime I' anchored in the bay outside Malaga harbour.

The Bridge at Moro de Ebro by Graham Turner, from the Osprey book Legion Condor 1936-39 The Bridge at Mora de Ebro Ref: GT16-C

Messerschmitt Bf 109s swoop down to protect Heinkel He 111 bombers as they approach their target, the bridge across the River Ebro at Mora de Ebro, on 14th August 1938. Approaching fast to oppose them are Republican I-16 fighters, soon to be dispersed by the superior German 109s, allowing the He111s to make a successful attack.
