The Siege of Norham Castle, 1497 Ref: GT-FBR6

Under the admiring gaze of King James IV of Scotland and his courtiers, the great gun 'Mons' is unleashed against Norham Castle in 1487. After 15 days of bombardment, the castle still held out and the siege was lifted when news was received of an approaching relief force. 'Mons' later became known as 'Mons Meg' and can still be seen outside Edinburgh Castle.
