At 4pm on the 21st June 1959, the Aston Martin DBR1 of Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby crossed the finishing line to take victory at Le Mans, heading a 1-2 finish for the British team at the 24 hour endurance classic.

Graham Turner's evocative painting shows Roy Salvadori in the winning car, leading the Phil Hill/Olivier Gendebien Ferrari Testa Rossa at Tertre Rouge corner on Sunday morning.
