'Steady Boy' - WW1 British army cavalry horse and Bristol Fighter - Equestrian Art by Graham TurnerSteady Boy - Canvas print Ref: SB-139

A British cavalryman calms his nervous horse, startled by a Bristol Fighter flying overhead, as they advance on the Western Front during the First World War. Graham Turner captures the bond between horse and rider in his sensitive tribute to the millions of horses that lost their lives during this conflict, which would see the old ways of waging war superceded by new technology and warfare on an industrial scale.

Published from an original oil painting by Graham Turner.

Individually printed on good quality canvas before being stretched on wooden stretcher bars, just like the original oil painting, and then varnished for protection.

Overall canvas size 20"x 20" (51cm x 51cm)

Note that canvas prints have no white border - this is the overall size of the canvas on its wooden stretcher bars and the image extends to the edge.

Each canvas is individually signed (on the reverse, as there is no border) by the artist, Graham Turner.

" When I was researching the First World War figure for the set of army uniforms stamps I painted for the Royal Mail a few years ago, I came across a photo of a column of British cavalry crossing a trench, and one of the horses so reminded me of my own horse Magic that I vowed that I would one day paint something to try to capture the relationship between man and horse in such extreme circumstances...."
